Kick-Off Congressional Briefing. 10/31/03

Over 50 Congressional staffers, members of the media, and researchers attended the TCN Kick-Off Briefing on 10/31/03 in Washington D.C. Sponsored by Senator Kennedy's office, the briefing was moderated by economist and journalist Julianne Malveaux, with speakers Robert Drago of Penn State University, Karen Kornbluh of the New America Foundation, Ellen Bravo of 9to5, Karen Nussbaum of the AFL-CIO, business consultant Bernadette Fusaro, Judith Lichtman of the National Partnership for Women and Families, and with Holly Fechner representing the Senator’s office. The forum addressed care policies and how these have and can be changed in the U.S. An Open Letter to America from over 200 experts in the field was released, and the event concluded National Work-Family Month as declared by the United States Senate.
